By: Ralph King

If your home heating goal is to reduce your energy bills and save space taken up by other heating appliances, it may be time to consider installing a wall-hung boiler system.

Cost-conscious and environmentally concerned homeowners throughout North America are discovering the value of heating their entire home and hot water supply with wall-hung boilers, like the Baxi Luna.

Much smaller than a conventional boiler and fueled by natural gas or propane, the Baxi Luna is a combination home comfort system. That means, it does everything a conventional furnace or boiler and separate hot water storage tank do - but at half the energy cost and using just a tenth of the space needed for a normal mechanical room.

Baxi homeowners, for instance, report savings of up to 53 percent on their monthly utility bills. Measuring 30 inches high, 18 inches wide and 14 inches deep, the Baxi Luna is no bigger than a small kitchen cupboard and frees up valuable living space. It can actually fit into a small space measuring 3 feet by 2 feet. Furthermore, the Luna is so quiet that it can be placed in the back of a master bedroom closet.

Wall-hung boilers are also on the rise because of the growing popularity of radiant heating, particularly in new home construction. A wall-hung boiler can enable radiant in-floor heating, heated towel racks and even exterior snowmelt applications in driveways and walkways.

Homeowners and builders are also choosing the wall-hung boiler as a replacement for old, noisy furnaces and boilers and to eliminate hot water tanks. In retrofitting projects, the boiler and an air handler can be hooked up to existing heat distribution systems, such as forced air furnace ducts and radiators.

Wall-hung boilers like the Baxi Luna prove that good things come in small packages for home heating appliances, too. When shopping for a wall-hung boiler, homeowners are advised to consider products that are fully approved by the American Gas Association, Energy Star-rated (for energy efficiency) and clearly H-Stamp certified (for operating safety).
